Adaptive networks: your competitive edge
16 Jul 2008 | Whitepaper | ProCurve Networking by HPThings change so rapidly, it's like a Darwinian struggle to keep up. As the pace of change accelerates, how can your organization become and remain competitive? - John McHugh Vice President, General Manager ProCurve Networking by HP
Advancing the economics of networking
02 Jun 2008 | Whitepaper | Juniper Networks IncAging network systems and old habits have dictated how businesses spend their IT budgets. As a result, a large percentage, if not a majority, of IT dollars are being spent to merely "stay in the race" and keep pace with the competition. While this model keeps revenue streams flowing for legacy network vendors, it doesn't necessarily help businesses gain a competitive advantage by "winning the race" or "changing the rules." Juniper Networks proposes to change this economic model by delivering a new family of solutions that reduce capital and operational expenses, freeing up IT budget dollars and allowing businesses to invest in innovative technologies that will reduce the cost of doing business while improving the bottom line.
OS impact on enterprise network performance
02 Jun 2008 | Whitepaper | Juniper Networks IncAs the role of IT becomes increasingly strategic, the criticality of the network deepens. Yet for many IT organizations, the existing network infrastructure does not take advantage of recent software engineering innovation, making it more challenging to achieve short-term and strategic goals. High-performance businesses increasingly look to Juniper Networks to help solve network challenges as they scale, compete and innovate. JUNOSª software, the trusted network operating system of Juniper Networks, is the foundation of this high-performance network. What sets JUNOS software apart from other network operating systems is the way it is built.
What's behind network downtime?
02 Jun 2008 | Whitepaper | Juniper Networks IncIncreasing network availability is an important business issue, with tolerance for network downtime steadily decreasing. According to an earlier Infonetics Research study, large businesses lose an average of 3.6 percent in annual revenue due to network downtime each year. Outages attributable to network equipment generally fall into one of three categories: planned maintenance events, system errors, or human factors. Networking vendors typically focus on the first two, but the last one, human factors, is the biggest contributor - responsible for 50 to 80 percent of network device outages.
ProCurve mission critical networking
14 Apr 2008 | MIS.Online | Hewlett Packard (Written Mar 2006, revised Jan 2008)sponsored whitepaper | When ProCurve Networking by HP received an enquiry from EADS Astrium Space Transportation at the beginning of 2003, no one could have suspected what was to happen in the months that followed. EADS Astrium was interested in equipping the International Space Station's (ISS) European Columbus module with a number of Ethernet switches. The plan was not to equip EADS Astrium's networking workstations in Germany, but rather to use them as the basis for the first Ethernet switching solution on board the International Space Station. This enquiry developed into one of the most demanding and unusual customer orders in the history of ProCurve Networking.
